Kaza drops 39 in dominant Scots victory over Crowley's Ridge

Batesville, AR - The Lyon College Scots absolutely dominated this Saturday afternoon, in a win over the Crowley's Ridge College Pioneers 92–53. With the win today Scots are now 5-5 on the season and remain 3-0 in SLIAC conference play.

From the opening tip, Lyon controlled the pace behind an explosive offensive showing from Natalya Kaza, who put together a dominant performance. Kaza scored a game-high 39 points, shooting 16-for-22 from the field and knocking down five three-pointers, while also adding four steals to fuel the Scots' transition attack. With her performance, she has now broken the all-time leading scoring record in a single game. A record which she set last year scoring 37 points over the Mississippi University for Women.

Kaza led Lyon to a 24–9 lead after the first quarter, with her scoring early and often. The Scots' defense set the tone as well, holding Crowley's Ridge to just 16.7 percent shooting in the opening frame.

The second quarter saw Lyon continue to stretch the lead thanks to strong contributions across the lineup. Alyssa Abascal provided steady play on both ends, finishing with 10 points, five steals, and two assists, while Molly Mason added 10 points and six rebounds, including timely buckets in the paint. The Scots outscored the Pioneers 30–13 in the period to take a commanding 54–22 lead into halftime.

Lyon maintained its intensity coming out of the break, winning the third quarter 25–10. Kaza continued to lead the charge offensively, while Savanna Lopez made her presence felt defensively with five blocks, anchoring the Scots in the paint. Kaysharia Woods chipped in seven points, and Niya Evans provided a spark off the bench with five points during the third-quarter surge.

With the outcome well in hand in the fourth quarter, Lyon leaned on its depth. Sara McCain turned in an efficient outing with 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting, while Presley Andrews, Camya Porter, and Brooklyn Berry each contributed to the scoring effort as the Scots closed out the win.

Overall, Lyon finished with 22 points off turnovers, 24 bench points, and a balanced scoring attack that showcased both its offensive firepower and defensive discipline.

Scots will back after Christmas and New Year's to continue their 2025 campaign in Columbus, Mississippi facing the Mississippi University for Women on Saturday, January 3 2026.
