Clarksville, AR - In the first half of the basketball game, the Lyon College Scots faced the University of the Ozarks Eagles in a closely contested battle. Although the eagles took a lead at the half, Scots were able to close the gap and secure a road victory. Scots advance to 8-2 on the season.
Kenneth Brown led the Scots in scoring with 16.
Trevon Taylor, with 12 points, recorded a team high of 13 rebounds.
Xavier Sorrell made an impact with 10 points, a team high of three steals and 12 rebounds.
The Scots started strong with early contributions from
Stephen Reed, who made a couple of layups in the paint and was active defensively with a block.
Trevon Taylor extended Lyon's early lead with a key three-pointer around the 14:30 mark. The Eagles fought back, and the lead changed hands a couple of times as the half progressed. As the half neared its conclusion, the Scots capitalized on opportunities at the free-throw line, with
Stephen Reed converting a free throw. Key defensive plays were made by
Xavier Sorrell with a steal, and
Kennedy Warren added a block and secured a rebound from the Eagles.
Kenneth Brown also contributed a good jumper and a three-pointer to the Scots' effort. The first half concluded with the University of the Ozarks holding a 30-29 lead.
The second half saw the Lyon College Scots immediately erase their deficit, as
Kenneth Brown sank a three-pointer to take a 32-30 lead just thirty seconds in.
Xavier Sorrell quickly followed with two layups in the paint, pushing the lead to four. The Eagles stayed close, but Lyon maintained control.
Stephen Reed converted a free throw, and Brown added two more from the line, securing a 39-34 advantage. The defense was stout, with multiple blocks credited to
Cameron Brown and key steals by Sorrell. Scots pulled away midway through the half, highlighted by a jumper from
Camron Williford and layups by
Jaaron Harriott and
Stephen Reed, extending the lead to 47-40. The Eagles continued to fight, but stellar plays from Sorrell, including a layup assisted by Brown, kept the Scots ahead 53-45 with under four minutes left. In the final minute,
Trevon Taylor sealed the victory with a crucial three-pointer, as the Scots ultimately triumphed 58-51 over the University of the Ozarks.
