Kansas City, MO — Lyon College faced tough competition across all three NCAA divisions at the Avila University Women's Eagle Open. The Scots had three representatives perform well on the grand stage.

Kaylei Parish, wrestling in the 103 pound weight class, faced a challenging bracket that saw her tournament end prematurely. After receiving two byes, Parish ran into tough opponents from opposing teams who secured quick victories by fall and tech fall.

Rubi Gonzalez, wrestling in the 117 pound weight class, battled through the consolation bracket to secure a commendable fourth-place finish and lead the team with 15 points. After an initial loss to an Indian Hills opponent, Gonzalez went on a tear, pinning competitors from Avila and Murray State before falling in the third-place match to Fort Hays State.

D'Mysha James, wrestling in the 180 pound weight class, started her tournament with a bang, securing a rapid 15-second fall against an Ottawa University opponent. Though she faced tough losses later against William Woods and Missouri Baptist teams, James contributed a solid 5.5 team points for the Scots.
 
Scots look to start the new year off right with competing against conference foe Huntingdon college January 4^th.
