Batesville, AR - Scots volleyball came away with two huge wins today, beating Eureka in three sets (25-12,28-26,25-20) and Blackburn in four (25-21,25-19,24-26, 26-24). With these wins Scots are now 14-14 on the season and 7-7 in conference play locking down the #3 seed in the SLIAC Volleyball Tournament. Scots will host #6 seed Webster this Thursday, November 13 at 7:00 PM.

Lyon 3, Eureka 0
Scots took the lead early off a 6-0 run with kills from
Reyleigh Twist,
Isabel Cervantes, a Soifa Santis Service ace and errors. Now 6-3, a kill from Molly McCoy,
Cristen Cleveland, and two from
Avery Fuller would put the Scots up five points, 10-5. Eureka closed the lead to four but a 7-0 run including three kills from McCoy, two kills from Twist, a kill from Fuller, and a service ace from Cleveland would make it 17-7. Lyon's offensive attack continued as Twist drove in another kill during a five point run, 23-10.
Madeline Hopson would set up Cleveland and Beary to drive in the final two kills to take the first set.
Red Devils brought their A-game taking an early lead, 10-5. But a kill from Twist and a block by Beary and Cervantes would make it a four point game, 13-9. Scots would keep up their attack with kills coming from Cervantes, McCoy, Fuller, Twist, and Beary to make it a one point game 17-16. Eureka would extend the lead off two errors, but a kill from Cervantes would tie it at 19-19. Red Devils would score five points off kills and errors, 24-23, but two back-to-back kills from McCoy would put the Scots on top for a moment at 25-24. Beary would lay down a huge block and Hopson would set up Cervantes to drive in the final kill 28-26.
A big block from Cervantes and Beary would start the third set for the Scots, this was followed by kills from Cleveland and Hopson to make it 4-3. Eureka would tie it,4-4, then take a two point lead off errors by the Scots. McCoy would tie it up with a kill set up by
Sofia Santis, 6-6. A 5-0 run, 12-8, from Scots would put them out in front for good with three kills from McCoy and two back-to-back blocks by Beary and McCoy. Twist would drive in an ace to make it, 15-11. The Red Devils would battle back to take the lead off kills, an ace, and an error to tie it 16-16. Scots would go on a 5-1 run scoring off kills from Twist and Fuller as well as an ace from Cleveland, 21-18. Twist drive in a service ace to take the third set and the match.
McCoy led the team in kills with 12, she also added two blocks and four digs. McCoy and Twist led the team in total points each with 13. Cleveland and Twist led the way each with two aces. Twist contributed with 11 kills and 10 digs. Cleveland added seven kills, two aces, and 12 digs. Cleveland was recognized for 1000th career digs as well today. Defensively Beary led the team with five blocks, she also added five kills and one assist. Cervantes ran the offense with 20 assists, she also drove in five kills, recorded one ace, had two blocks, and had six digs.
Lyon 3, Blackburn 1
Scots took an early lead, 5-0, over the Beavers with kills from Cervantes, Beary, and an ace by Twist making the difference. McCoy would drive in a kill to make it a five point lead, 9-4. Twist set up by Cervantes would send to kills to the floor, but Blackburn would close the led to only one point, 11-10. Twist would drive in an ace to take a brief 13-10, lead that was tied off errors and a kill. Both teams would exchange points to with a block from McCoy and Fuller as well as kill from Twist tieing it at 18-18. A four score run at the end off kills from Cervantes, Cleveland, a Twist ace, and block laid down by Cleveland and Beary put the score to 24-20. Cervantes would drive in the final kill to take the set 25-24.
The lead would change eight times as teams would exchange points with one another, 8-8. Blackburn finally extended away off a seven point lead off errors and a few kills, 15-9. Kills from Cleveland, Fuller, and Cervantes would close the lead to five, 18-13. McCoy and Twist would add kills, 19-15. An ace from Hopson would keep the lead at four points, 21-17. Beary would drive in two kills late but was not enough to overcome Beavers lead.
It was a close game throughout, early on teams were within a point or two of each other but a kill from McCoy and Cervantes ace put Scots on top, 6-5. McCoy would maintain the lead with a kill to make it 9-7. Beavers would jump out ahead on a 7-0 run off kills and errors, 15-10. Both teams would trade points but Scots were unable to take the lead as kills from Cervantes, Beary, Fuller, and Cervantes ace kept it close, 18-14. Cleveland would drive in an ace and Twist would make another kill to make it a two point lead, 20-18. A service ace from Hopson, kill from Cervantes, and kill from Twist would take the lead for the Scots, 23-21. Hopson would set up Cleveland to make the final kill to take the set 26-24.
In the fourth and final set teams would exchange points back and forth first as singular points as a block by Cleveland and Fuller as well kill by Cervantes made up the difference for the Scots. Beavers would take the lead off errors and a block, 6-4. Scots responded with a four point run, with three kills from McCoy making the difference, 8-6. Beavers would bite back with a 10-0 off kills, aces, and errors to make it 16-8. A block from Beary and McCoy would the lead to six, while another block from Cervantes and Beary would make it only a four point lead, 19-14. Scots would take the lead off a six point run including a Cervantes ace, two Cleveland kills, and a kill from Fuller, 21-20. McCoy would close out the fourth and final set with three kills.
McCoy led the team in kills (12) and over these two matches recorded over 1,000 kills. She also contributed two blocks and one dig. Cervantes and Twist led the team in service aces with three and both added 11 kills. Cervantes added 22 assists, one block, and six digs. Twist added 12 digs. Defensively Beary led the way in blocks with four, she added eight kills and three digs. Hopson ran the offense 28 assists, she added two aces and four digs. Cleveland was the leader in digs with 29 total, she contributed 11 kills, one assist, one ace, and two blocks.
