Ozarks Overwhelm Scots in 107-76 Home Loss

BATESVILLE, AR - The Lyon College women's basketball team faced a tough home match up tonight against the University of Ozarks Eagles falling 107-76. The defeat drops the Scots' season record to 1-4 as they prepare to open conference play next week.

The game started competitively, with the Scots jumping out to an early lead. Lyon's Kaysharia Woods connected on an early three-pointer to put her team up 2-3 just 36 seconds into the game. Alyssa Abascal added a jumper, and the Scots went up by 3 points. Lyon held strong through the first quarter, ending the period ahead 24-17. The Scots were efficient from beyond the arc in the opening frame, shooting 44.44% from three-point range.

The second quarter saw a shift in momentum. The Eagles began chipping away at the lead, managing to tie the score multiple times before eventually taking a narrow 42-41 advantage into halftime. The third quarter proved to be the turning point, as Ozarks found their rhythm offensively. They shot an impressive 58.82% from the field in the period and began to pull away, building a 10-point lead by the end of the quarter, 67-56.

Ozarks closed out the game with an dominant final quarter, outscoring Lyon 40-20. The Eagles were clinical in the final 10 minutes, shooting a blistering 70% from the field. The Scots could not keep pace, resulting in the final 107-76 score.

Despite the outcome, several Scots delivered solid performances. Junior Natalya Kaza was the game's leading scorer for Lyon, contributing 24 points, grabbing seven rebounds, and recording three steals. Senior Alyssa Abascal was a key facilitator, adding 14 points, seven rebounds, and a team-high four assists. Off the bench, sophomore Camya Porter provided an excellent spark with 13 points in just 10 minutes of play, hitting all three of her three-point attempts and all four of her free throws.
