Scots battle to 1-1 draw against Eureka

Eureka, IL – In an impressive offensive showing, the Scots battled the Red Devils to a hard-fought draw. With the result, Lyon moves to 2-6-1 on the season.
 
The Scots' offense showed plenty of promise, finishing the match with an impressive 29 shots, 12 of which were on target. Jessica Steele led the charge with six attempts, including three on goal. Emma Rumore and Rylie Williams each contributed four shots, combining for four on frame. Zoe Papazoglou, Lauren Couture, and Katelyn Balderas also made their presence felt, tallying three shots apiece and adding four more on net. Audrey Cox added two shots to round out the Scots' attack. In goal, Millie Beller faced two shots, making one save.
 
The Scots started hot, opening the match with three consecutive shots within the first 13 minutes of play. A quarter of the way through the first half, the Red Devils broke through to take a 1-0 lead. Shortly after, Rylie Williams tested the Eureka goalkeeper with a shot on net, followed by another attempt from Zoe Papazoglou that was saved. Jessica Steele capped off the first-half effort with a strong shot before the break.
 
Continuing their offensive onslaught from the first half, the Scots opened the second with a flurry of early chances. Rylie Williams fired a shot on goal in the 64th minute, but it was stopped by the Eureka keeper. Just moments later, Zoe Papazoglou found the back of the net with help from Katelyn Balderas and Lauren Couture, leveling the match at 1-1. In the 84th minute, Eureka was issued a yellow card, giving Williams a chance from the penalty spot, but her attempt was saved by the Red Devils' goalkeeper. Couture recorded the final shot of the match, closing out the game in a 1-1 draw.
 
Up next, the Scots remain on the road as they travel to Blackburn College on Saturday, October 11, with kickoff set for 3:30 p.m.
