Abilene, TX - It was a dominant three quarters by the McMurry Warhawks as they defeated the Lyon College Scots, 65-7. Scots were down, 35-0, at the end of the first half. Lyon is now 1-3 on the year and 0-1 in conference.
Offensively Lyon had 150 yards total offense with 112 through the air and just 38 yards on the ground.
Grayson Johnson was 15-of-32 for 112 yards and an interception.
Noah Osborne and
Louis Calhoun were your leading receivers each with 35 yards.
Jacobi Williams led the team in rushing with 53 yards and a touchdown. Defensively
William Littell led the team, with six total tackles five solo and one assisted.
Tayshaun Childs recorded one sack.
McMurry scored on their first two possessions to take the lead 14-0 in the first quarter. Scots would get the ball on their own 20-yard line and Johnson would complete a pass to Osbourne for 25-yards going down at the Lyon-42 yard line. Johnson would complete a pass to
Javarion Williams for only two yards but would draw a flag to get the first down. 1st & 10 on McMurry 41-yard line, Johnson would throw an interception. With the Warhawks having the ball they would go on a three play drive that would end as
Jerry McGehee would pick off the pass. Lyon's next possession ended with a three and out. Warhawks would then score their third touchdown of the quarter to make 21-0. In second quarter the defense would force a three and out as
William Litton would make two tackles and McGehee would stop a rush at the line of scrimmage. The Warhawks would then score 14 points unopposed to make 35-0.
The second half would start as McMurry would go on a seven play drive to score a touchdown to go up 42-0. Lyon's next possession would end with a punt that was blocked for a safety, 44-0. The Warhawks would then score on their next possession now 51-0. Lyon's defense would force another punt as
Xiyiah Spencer-Cole would stop a rush on the right side and two Warhawks would go incomplete. McMurry would score again before the end of the third to make it 58-0. The Fourth quarter would start with a nine play drive by McMurry to score, 65-0. Scots would finally score as
Jacobi Williams would find the end zone on a 16-yard rush up the middle and
Jesus Romero-Castillo would kick the point after to make it 65-7.
Scots will return to Batesville for Homecoming as they face Centenary College on Saturday, October 18 at 3:30 PM in Bad Boy Mowers Stadium.
