LOUISVILLE, Kentucky -
Natalya Kaza scored 15 points and
Savanna Lopez scored 10 to lead Lyon College women's basketball in a 78-58 loss at Spalding University on Thursday night in SLIAC action.
The Scots (7-9, 4-5) trailed 21-20 after the first quarter and 36-31 by halftime. Spalding outscored Lyon College 18-13 in the third quarter and 24-14 in the fourth period.
Lopez finished with a double-double that included 10 points and 11 rebounds. Kaza had 15 points, six steals and seven rebounds,
Dalye Hambelton had nine points 11 assists and six rebounds,
Haven Cooper had eight points, while
Alexis Shelton,
Molly Mason and
Emily Walley all had five points each.
Chasity Taylor had one point, while
Savannah Stout,
Jewel Walley,
Olivia Jones,
Izabel Soto and
Olivia Wallace all played in the game, but did not score.
Lyon College shot 39 percent from the field, hit four of 16 three-pointers and made four of eight free throws. The Scots got 30 points in the paint, scored 13 points off of 22 Spalding turnovers, had nine second chance points, five fast-break points and got 14 points off the bench.Â
The score was tied four times and there were four lead changes that all happened in the first quarter.Â
The Scots will be at Greenville on Saturday afternoon.
