BATESVILLE, Arkansas - The Eureka Red Devils took advantage of 36 Lyon College Scots turnovers to win at Becknell Gymnasium 91-67 on Thursday night in SLIAC women's basketball action.
The Scots (6-8, 3-4) started the game with seven straight turnovers and fell behind 13-0 to Eureka. The Scots came back to trail 24-18 by the end of the first period and managed to come back and take a 29-28 lead on a free throw from Dalye Hambleton with 6:22 to go before halftime. Eureka scored eight straight points and led 49-35 by halftime.
The Scots were outscored 22-21 in the third quarter and 20-11 in the fourth period.
Savanna Lopez led Lyon College with 20 points and nine rebounds, while
Natalya Kaza added 16 points.
Dalye Hambelton and
Emily Wallace had six points each.
Molly Mason,
Chasity Taylor, and
Olivia Jones had four points each, Alexis SHelton had three points, while
Haven Cooper and Savannah South added two points each.
Jewel Walley,
Izabel Soto and
Olivia Wallace also played in the game, but did not score.
Lyon College had 17 first half turnovers and doubled it to 34 for the game. The Scots shot 41.7 percent from the field, made 3 of 11 three-pointers and 14 of 16 free throws.
Lyon College hosts Blackburn on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
