Lyon College softball splits SLIAC double header with Eureka College

BATESVILLE, Arkansas - The Lyon College Scots split a doubleheader today against the Eureka College Red Devils. Before the game started the Scots honored family and staff members who served or are currently serving in the United States Military.

The Scots made quick work in the first inning. With bases loaded in the bottom of the first inning, Chloe McCance hit a single allowing Sofie Varela to score the first run for the Scots. Marry Duffield hit a sacrifice fly out to right field bringing home Anna Voth for the second run of the game. With two outs on the board Mickenzie Campell hit a single bringing in Olivia Orf for the Scots third run. McCance scored the fourth run of the inning after Jada-Lynn King hit a single in the left-center gap. 

In the second inning Duffield hit a double out to center field bringing in Voth for the fifth run for the Scots. Campbell scored the sixth run of the game in the third inning off a double hit by Varela. Voth hit a single in the left center gap bringing in Whitney Mitchell for the seventh run of the game. 

In the top of the sixth inning the Red Devils scored a run making the score 7-1. After Campbell struck out the first batter, Varela caught two fly balls in center field to end the first game. 

In the second game the Red Devils took the lead 1 - 0 in the top of the first. McCance hit a single that brought both Orf and Voth home making the score 2-1. Duffield hit a single allowing McCance to score making the score 3-1. 

The Red Devils scored two more runs in the second inning tying the score. In the top of the fourth Eureka scored six more runs to make the score 9-3. The Red Devils scored three runs in the top of the fifth making the final score 12-3.
