BATESVILLE, Arkansas -
Cameron Gordon threw seven full innings and allowed one run and struck out three Austin College batters in the Scots 9-1 win over the Kangaroos in Game 2 of a double-header at Fred Wann Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Scots (1-7) dropped the first game 3-0 before breaking out of their slump in the second game.
Patrick Babcock pitched 6.2 innings and allowed four hits and three runs (none of which were earned) and struck out two Kangaroo batters in Game 1. Â
Austin College and Lyon College battled scoreless for six full innings of game one. In the top of the seventh inning, the Kangaroos scored three times on two hits and two errors.Â
The Scots had six hits in the game.
Kooper McCoy singled down the left field line in the bottom of the first inning.
Jayden Cull doubled to left center field to lead off the bottom of the second and Brad McLemore singled up the middle.
Braden Hendrix had a single up the middle with two out in the bottom of the fourth inning and McCoy picked up another hit in the bottom of the sixth.
Ashton Compton had a two-out single in the bottom of the seventh, but Lyon College didn't score.
In Game 2, the bats came alive for the Scots. After Austin College took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning, Hendrix singled to left center to score
Logan Doody in the bottom half of the inning to tie the score at 1-1.
Lyon picked up two more runs in the bottom of the third inning when
Logan Lightner doubled to left center to bring in Cull. Doody followed with a single to score Lightner and make it a 3-1 Lyon College lead.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Compton singled through the right side to score Hendrix and
Gavin Caldwell. Cull hit a sacrifice fly to left field to bring in Graef, then Lightner singled through the right side and Compton scored to make it a 7-1 lead for the Scots.
In the fifth, Graef put down a sacrifice bunt to bring in Hendrix and in the bottom of the sixth, Cull singled up the middle to score
Brayden Anderson and make it a 9-1 Lyon College lead.
Compton had one hit, scored a run and had two runs batted in. McCoy had one hit and one walk, Anderson scored a run, Cull had two hits, scored a run and had two RBIs. Lightner had two hits , one run scored and two runs batted in. Doody had two hits, scored arun, had an RBI and walked. McLemore walked. Hendrix had two hits, scored twice and had an RBI. Graef scored a run, had an RBI and walked.Â
Baseball resumes on Sunday at 12 p.m. for the third game against Austin College.
