Batesville, AR – March 8, 2024 – Lyon College Athletics is thrilled to announce the promotion of Coach Will Lawhorn to the position of Offensive Coordinator for the upcoming 2024 football season. After an impressive inaugural year as the Offensive Line Coach in 2023, Coach Lawhorn's proven expertise and commitment to player development have earned him this well-deserved promotion.

During his first season as the Offensive Line Coach in 2023, Coach Lawhorn made a significant impact on Lyon Football, leading the team to a 7 point increase in points per game, a .400 increase in win percentage, a 50-yard improvement in passing yards per game, 6 additional touchdowns for the season, an 8% increase in 3rd down conversion, and a 5% increase in Redzone Touchdown conversions.

Originally from Rochelle, Illinois, Coach Lawhorn brings a wealth of experience and passion for the game to his role. Prior to joining Lyon College, he served as the special teams coordinator, offensive line coach, and strength and conditioning coach at Rockford University, where his dedication elevated the team's performance.

Before his time at Rockford, Coach Lawhorn served as an assistant coach at both Lyon College and MacMurray College. His coaching prowess was evident during his tenure at MacMurray, contributing to the Highlanders' successful 5-5 overall record and an impressive 5-3 mark in conference play.

As a former four-year member of the Rockford University football team, Coach Lawhorn's playing experience, including achieving First Team All-NACC status, adds a unique perspective to his coaching approach. His senior season at Rockford witnessed remarkable achievements, with the team recording the second most total offensive yards, rushing yards, and passing yards in a single season since joining the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference in 2008.

Coach Lawhorn graduated from Rockford University in 2019 with a bachelor's degree in Physical Education and a minor in Health. Proudly calling Batesville his home, he resides with his wife, Alison, and daughter, Adalynn.
