Natalya Kaza scored 20 points,
Savanna Lopez added a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds,
Allison Byars scored 15 points,
Brooklyn Rowe had 13 points and
Samantha Taylor scored 11 points to lead the Lyon College Scots past the Blackburn College Beavers 103-65 on Saturday afternoon in SLIAC action in Carlinville, Illinois.
The Scots (14-7, 9-5) led 31-13 after the first quarter and outscored Blackburn 33-22 in the second period to lead 64-35 at halftime. Lyon slowed the pace somewhat in the second half scoring a combined total of 39 points.Â
Stella Parker added eight points,
Olivia Jones scored seven points,
Mia Winston added six points,
Alexis Soloman put in five points and
Kayla Richardson scored two points.Â
Blackburn held a 4-3 lead early in the game, but Rowe made a three-pointer, Kaza put in a basket, made a jump shot and connected on a three-pointer. Taylor put in a layup and Byars scored in the paint for a 17-5 Lyon College lead with 6:50 to play in the first quarter.
Lopez hit a jump shot, Parker made a baseline move to the basket for a score, Taylor added a free throw and Rowe hit a three-pointer for a 26-11 Scots lead. Taylor and Parker made free throws, then Soloman made a three-pointer for a 31-13 advantage with 12 seconds left.
Winston put in a layup to start the second period and completed a three-point play with a free throw to make it a 19-point Lyon College lead. Byars scored, Lopez put in a layup, then hit two jumpers in a row before Jones scored inside on a fast-break. Richardson put in her basket, Rowe added two free throws, Parker made one free throw, Kaza and Byars scored, then Lopez, Byars and Kaza all put in two free throws, Lopez hit a jumper and Jones scored out the scoring with a fast-break layup and a 64-35 Lyon lead.
Lopez, Taylor and Kaza scored, then Lopez and Kaza put in baskets and Parker made two free throws. Soloman made a three-pointer, Winston had a layup, Kaza scored and Taylor added a basket in the third quarter to put Lyon College ahead 86-51.
In the fourth period, Kaza and Byars scored baskets, Taylor put in a layup, Jones made a free throw, Soloman made two free throws, Winston put in a layup and Jones scored a basket inside. Parker made two free throws and Rowe hit a jump shot for a 103-65 lead with 30 seconds to play.
