PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania -- Three athletes for Scots Athletics have earned USCAA National Player of the Week honors.

Madison DeRoussel, a sophomore runner from Mary Esther, Florida, earned USCAA National Runner of the Week for Division I Women's Cross Country. DeRoussel earned this distinction after she finished fifth overall with a time of 25:23.81 in the 6000-meter run at the SLIAC Cross Country Championships in Litchfield, Illinois over the weekend. Her performance led the Scots women's cross country team to a third-place finish at the event as well.

Hanna Klara Birgisdottir, a freshman midfielder from Akureyri, Iceland, earned the USCAA National Player of the Week for Division I Women's Soccer. Birgisdottir earned the award after scoring the game-winning goal in the 83rd minute of the Scots' SLIAC season finale at Mississippi University for Women last week. Her goal was the lone of the match as the Scots defeated the Owls by a final score of 1-0 in Columbus.

Matheus Nunes, a sophomore midfielder from Vitoria, Brazil, earned the USCAA National Player of the Week for Division I Men's Soccer. Nunes earned the award after a remarkable performance at Mississippi University for Women last week, where he scored two goals along with two assists. His performance helped the Scots secure a share of the SLIAC Conference regular season championship for the second consecutive season. Nunes also earned SLIAC Player of the Week for as well as SLIAC Second Team All-Conference honors for the 2024 season.
