Zharia Childress scored 14 points,

Brooklyn Rowe and
Alexis Soloman both scored 11 points and
Savanna Lopez added 10 points to lead the Lyon College women's basketball team to a record-setting 144-53 win over the Blackburn College Beavers on Saturday afternoon at Becknell Gymnasium.
The Scots (9-3, 4-1) had previously set a college scoring record last season against Bacone in a 123-59 win. Lyon College has scored over 100 points in six games. Lyon led 34-13 after the first quarter and put together a record-setting half of scoring with a 71-34 lead at the break. The Scots outscored Blackburn 41-7 in the third quarter and 32-12 in the fourth.
Others to score for the Scots included eight points from
Kayla Richardson,
Stella Parker,
Olivia Jones and
Mia Winston all had six points each and
Leilani Regino had four assists.
Lyon College forced 48 Blackburn turnovers and scored 67 points.
The Beavers hit the first shot of the game for their only lead. Taylor came back with a three-pointer and hit a jump shot. Childress scored and Byars made two free throws before Blackburn scored again. Taylor made three free throws and Byars hit a jump shot. Lopez made a jumper, Parker converted two free throws, Taylor made two from the line, then added a jumper and Childress scored inside for a 23-13 lead. Childress completed a three-point play, then Taylor made a steal and layup, two more free throws and put in a jumper for a 32-13 lead with 1:06 left in the first quarter. Childress closed out the period with a short jumper.
Richardson scored inside, Lopez hit a jump shot, Kaza put in a layup and hit a jump shot. Kaza put in another layup, Lopez scored again and Richardson hit a jumper for a 48-18 lead for the Scots. Kaza connected on a three-pointer, Byars scored inside, then completed a three-point play. Childress scored, Soloman put in a shot, Rowe canned two three-pointers in a row, Childress scored again and Rowe made another three-pointer for a 71-24 lead with 1:36 to go in the first half.
The Beavers scored the last 10 points of the first half and the first two of the third quarter, but Byars put in a layup, hit a three-pointer and passed to Kaza for a jumper. Childress scored and Kaza hit another jumper, then added two free throws. Byars scored two times in a row and Taylor made a jump shot for an 89-36 Lyon College lead. Byars put in two free throws and a basket. Richardson scored again and Parker put in two free throws, Kaza made a jumper, Walley hit a three-pointer and put in a basket inside. Taylor scored on a layup, Walley put in another jumper and Lopez hit in the paint twice in the final seconds to put the Scots up by 71 points, 112-41.
Parker made two free throws, Rowe put in a layup, Jones scored, Walley added a basket and Jones scored again. Walley made a three-pointer to give the single-game scoring record to the Scots and it continued. Soloman completed a three-point play, Richardson scored on a spin move, Winston knocked down a three-pointer and Soloman scored again. Winston completed a three-point play, Jones scored inside and Soloman put in the final two baskets for Lyon College to make it a 91-point margin.
