Palmer and Bell scored 23 points each in 95-72 win over Principia

BATESVILLE, Arkansas - Israel Palmer and Trenton Bell each scored 23 points to lead the Lyon College Scots past the Principia Panthers 95-72 on Saturday afternoon at Becknell Gymnasium in SLIAC play.

The Scots (13-5, 10-2) remain atop the SLIAC standings with the victory thank in part to Bell's 7-of-8 shooting from beyond the three-point arch. Malik Madison had 12 points and five blocked shots, Kylon McCullough scored 14 points, Frank Toney had eight points and eight assists, Nikola SaSaroga and Luke Bridges had four points each, while John Paul Morgan had two points and six rebounds and Ahmadou Diallo scored a basket.

McCullough and Palmer scored early for the Scots. Toney knocked down a three-pointer, then on the next possession, hit another trey, Palmer put in a layup and Madison had a bank shot fall for a 14-11 Lyon College lead with 14:42 left in the first half. Bell came in and made his first three-pointer, Palmer scored and SaSaroga put in a shot to push the Lyon lead to 10 points. Palmer and McCullough scored, then Bell hit his second three-pointer to make it 28-19. 
Bell made his third three-pointer, Madison got a dunk, McCullough put in a jumper, followed by a jumper from Toney, Palmer scored and Madison hit a jumper for a 41-36 Scots lead with 46 seconds left in the half. Palmer sank a three-pointer at the buzzer to push the Lyon lead to six points. 

The Scots came out of the break not missing any shots for the first three-and-half minutes of the second half. Palmer scored on a drive in the lane, McCullough hit  a three-pointer and put in a layup off a fast-break, Madison dunked it off an alley-oop pass from Toney and McCullough made another three-pointer for a 56-41 lead. 
Madison got another dunk, SaSaroga scored inside, Palmer put in two layups in a row, then Madison dunked again. Palmer scored inside, Bell made his fourth three-pointer, Palmer got another layup to fall, Bell scored on a mid-range jumper, Morgan scored inside, then Bell hit his fifth and sixth three-pointers in a row for a commanding 83-52 Lyon College lead with 7:26 to go in the game. 
Bridges scored inside off the offensive glass, Bell made his seventh three-pointer, Bridges scored again and Jones White put in a three-pointer to make it 93-54 with 4:59 to go.
