What a weekend for the Scots

Box Score BATESVILLE, Arkansas - The Lyon College football Scots are 1-0 on the season for 2023 after defeating Grinnell College on Saturday night 18-12 in a thriller at Pioneer Stadium in Batesville.

Quarterback Brady Miller threw for 201 yards and completed a 34-yard touchdown pass to Karson Douglas to tie the game at 7-7, then Jesus Romero-Castillo kicked a 27-yard field goal to give the Scots the lead 10-9 in the third quarter.

After a fumble recovery, the Scots marched down the field and Miller dove in from 1-yard out with under five minutes to play in the game and Eli Funck added the 2-point conversion for an 18-9 lead for Lyon.

Grinnell added a late field goal, but when it tried an onside kick to get the ball back, Xavier Long recovered the ball safely for Lyon and Miller took a knee to end the game.

The Scots host Belhaven, Mississippi this Saturday night at Pioneer Stadium on the campus of Batesville High School at 6 p.m.
