Box Score BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Lyon College Scots men's soccer team defeated the Howard Payne University Yellow Jackets 1-0 in a hard-fought shoot out in Brownwood, Texas on Saturday night.

The Scots (2-4 ) got the only goal of the game in the first half 14:35 into the match by Filipe Santana de Oliveira on a long 25-yard shot from the left side after a touch and cross from Andrei Galca.
Both teams fought to a 0-0 tie in the second half as the Scots played relentless defense to stop attacks by the Yellow Jackets. Three Howard Payne players received yellow cards in the game. 

Lyon College was credited with six on-goal shots and 11 total shots, eight of which came in the first half. The Yellow Jackets had three on-goal shots that were all saved by Scots goalie Gabriel Rangel, who played the entire 90 minutes. 

Statistically, Galca took three shots and two of those were on-goal. Tomas Biasi had one shot on-goal, Matheus Nunes had two shots, de Oliveira had two shots on goal, including the game-winner and Rafael Campos had one shot on-goal.

The Scots opened the game with a shot by de Oliveira that was saved bottom center by the HPU goalie less than two minutes into the match. Martin Esquivel took a shot that went wide right at 12:24 and Galca had a shot just before the goal by Oliveira that was scored from long range.
Still the Lyon stayed on the attack with a shot by Nunes at 17:01 and another shot on goal by Galca that was saved bottom center by the Yellow Jackets at the 18:23 mark. Esquivel and Nunes both took shots after that over the next two minutes that went wide right and wide left.

Biasi had a shot on goal for Lyon College tha twas saved in the first few minutes of the second half. Meanwhile, Rangel saved a shot by HPU and another HPU went wide left on the attack. 
Campos got free for a shot on goal that was saved bottom right by the Yellow Jackets goalie at the 66:26 mark, then HPU took two more shots that were blocked away. Lyon had two corner kicks at the 76:06 mark and another at the 76:25 mark that were blocked away. In the final four minutes, Galca took another shot on goal that was saved and the Scots had another corner kick. 
Rangel saved the final Yellow Jackets shot with seven seconds to go in the game. 

Lyon College will stay in Texas to play at the University of Dallas at 12 p.m. on Sunday.
