BATESVILLE, Arkansas - The Lyon College women's soccer team just needs to clean up some of the details, but showed an enormous amount of improvement against an undefeated Hendrix College Warriors team on Tuesday afternoon at Huser Field.
The Scots (1-3) lost the match 4-0, but the real story was their attack on Hendrix that was fairly consistent throughout the contest. Hendrix scored nine minutes into the first half, then added another at the 15:21 mark. The Warriors added two more goals in the second half and finished the game with 22 shots, 10 of which were on goal.
Lyon had nine shots in the game and three of those were on-goal and saved each time.Â
Both
Destinee Flowers and
Priscilla Luevano combined for six saves at goalie for the Scots.
The Warriors had three corner kicks before scoring their first goal.
Katelyn Balderas just missed to the left on a shot for the Scots and
Taylor Hammons kick was just high of the mark a few minutes later.Â
Hendrix scored just after that play and led 2-0 at halftime.Â
The Warriors put in another goal just seven minutes into the second half, but Lyon fought back.
Addy Lovell had a shot go just left, then
Alexis Whitley had her on-goal shot saved, the Lovell came back for a goal-shot and it was saved, as well.Â
Balderas had a shot miss on top and tried again, but missed high at the 78:25 mark of the second half.
Allison Byars got free for a shot that was saved in the final six minutes.
The Scots hit the road on Friday, September 15 to Springdale to take on Ecclesia College at Veteran's Park beginning at 5 p.m.
