BATESVILLE, Arkansas - The Lyon College baseball Scots dropped the series finale with the William Woods Owls on Saturday afternoon at Fred Wann Field in Batesville.
The Scots (16-17, 9-6) lost to the Owls (25-14, 10-5) 13-6 in a nine-inning American Midwest Conference game.
Lyon fought back with five runs in the bottom of the eight inning to close the gap.Â
Back in the bottom of the third inning,
Jayden Cull grounded into a double-play, but
Brayden Anderson scored to make it 6-1 at that point.
The Scots scored again in the bottom of the eighth inning when
Derek Underwood reached on a fielder's choice that brought in pinch-runner
Pierce Corbo.
Austin Shipman followed that with a double to plate
Hayden Hargrave and Underwood.
Bradley McLemore followed that with a double to bring in Shipman and Cull doubled to score McLemore all with two outs to make it 13-6.
Lyon College had 11 hits in the game.
Logan Lightner walked, Underwood was 1-for-5 with a run scored and had an RBI, Shipman was 2-for-5 with a run scored and two RBIs, McLemore was 3-for-4 with a run scored, an RBI and a walk,
Kyle Carver walked, Cull was 1-for-4 with an RBI and a walk,
Zane Wallace was 2-for-4 and Hargrave was 2-for-3 with a run scored and two walks.
Shipman, McLemore and Cull had extra base hits, while Underwood and Wallace both had stolen bases. Cull and Wallace were also hit by pitches in the game.Â
