BATESVILLE, Ark. - The Lyon College softball Scots lost 11-2 and 9-1 in an American Midwest Conference double-header against the Williams Baptist Eagles on Tuesday afternoon at Howard and Mary House Field in Batesville.
The Scots (15-19, 3-11) fell behind 7-1 in the top of the fourth inning until MK Duffield hit a solo home run over the left-center field fence. Lyon College got another run in the inning when
Savannah Lee singled in
Trinity Arrambide.
The Eagles scored four more runs to end the game in the fifth inning.
McKenzie Campbell pitched the first three innings and gave up seven hits and six runs, while striking out two.
Alyssa Buentello pitched two innings and gave up seven hits and five runs, while striking out three.Â
The Scots had four hits in the game.
Anna Voth and Duffield, then Lee had the two other hits going 2-for-2 at the plate with a run batted in.Â
In the second game, Williams Baptist led 6-0 until Campbell singled in
Sophie Varela in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Eagles scored three more runs in the next two innings to end the game in the sixth.
The Scots had four hits in the game.
Whitney Mitchell, Varela, Duffield and Campbell were successful at the plate.Â
Campbell pitched all six innings for the Scots and gave up 12 hits and nine runs, six of which were earned and had four strike outs.Â
