NORTH LITTLE ROCK - The Lyon College Scots baseball team split an American Midwest Conference double-header with the Central Baptist College Mustangs at DeSalvo Memorial Field in North Little Rock's Burns Park on Saturday afternoon.
The Scots (9-12, 4-1) won the first game 6-2 and dropped the second game 6-5.
In the first game,
Derek Underwood singled through the right side to score
Thomas Lingren for a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
Logan Lightner doubled to center field to bring in Garret Graef and Underwood to make it 3-0.
Austin Shipman singled to right field in the top of the second inning fto bring in
Beau Smith for a 4-0 Scots lead.Â
Bradley McLemore hit a solo homer to right field in the top of the seventh for Lyon College and Lightner singled to center field to bring in Graef for a 6-2 lead.
The Scots had 10 hits in the first game with Lightner leading the way by going 3-for-3 at the plate. McLemore and Shipman were both 2-for-4.Â
Ayden Heitmann was the winning pitcher for the Scots going seven innings, giving up five hits, two earned runs and striking out one.Â
In the second game, Lyon took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning when Smith singled to right field to bring in Lightner. CBC came back to take a 5-1 lead until the Scots scored again in the top of the fifth when McLemore singled to left field to score
Brayden Anderson.
Zane Wallace hit a 2-run homer to right center field in the top of the seventh inning to bring in Smith and cut the CBC lead to 5-4.
Jayden Cull singled up the middle in the to score Underwood and tie the game at 5-5 in the top of the eighth inning.Â
CBC won the game on a one-out fielder's choice.
