HANNIBAL, Missouri - The Lyon College Scots baseball team picked up a 6-0 win over the Hannibal-LaGrange Trojans on Monday afternoon in Hannibal, Missouri.
The Scots (8-10 and 3-0) picked up single runs in the top of the first and second innings, then added three runs in the top of the eight and an insurance run in the top of the ninth.
Logan Lightner hit a sacrifice grounder to score
Garrett Graef to put the Scots up 1-0 in the top of the first inning.Â
Zane Wallace hit a line drive single to left center field to bring in
Jayden Cull for a 2-0 Scots lead.
In the eighth, Lightner grounded out again and Graef scored on the play.
Thomas Lingren singled to left field to and
Hayden Hargrave and
Bradley McLemore scored for a 5-0 Lyon College lead.
McLemore singled in
Balah Muhammed in the top of the ninth inning to make it a 6-0 game. The Scots had seven hits in the game including one from
Derek Underwood.
Jesse McGonigal pitched a complete game shutout. He scattered six hits, walked three, struck out four and hit one of the 35 batters he faced in the game.Â
