BATESVILLE, Ark. - The Lyon College Diamond Scots swept a double-header from the Champion Christian College Tigers, 7-2 and 2-0 at Fred Wann Field on a cold Friday afternoon.
Ayden Heitmann (2-0) went the distance in Game 1 of a 7-2 win for the Scots (3-6 overall). Heitmann pitched seven innings, gave up six hits and two earned runs, while striking out 10 of the 30 batters he faced.The Lyon offense was bolstered by a grand slam from
Jesse McGonigal in the bottom of the first inning, scoring
Logan Lightner,
Garrett Graef and
Jayden Cull.Â
The Scots added another run in the bottom of the first to go up 5-0 when
Zane Wallace advanced to second and
Austin Shipman scored on an error by the Champion Christian shortstop.Â
Lyon scored two more runs in the bottom of the second inning when
Bradley McLemore reached on an error allowing Lightner and Graef to score for a 7-0 lead.
Champion Christian added two runs in the top of the seventh.
Game 2 was a winning pitching performance from
Cameron Gordon, who threw seven innings for the Scots, allowing four hits and striking out 10 of the 28 batter he faced.Â
The only score in the game came in the bottom of the sixth inning when Cull singled in
Beau Smith and
Hayden Hargrave for Lyon College.Â
