ST. LOUIS, Missouri - The Lyon College men and women's track and field teams competed in the American Midwest Conference Indoor Championships at Principia College on Saturday.
Five student-athletes recorded personal bests and one school record was broken on the day.
Jakobe Alcorn placed sixth in High Jump clearing 1.75 meters. The Men's Distance Medley Relay team consisting of Joseph Peal, Gabriel Morris, Matthew Cooks, and Jakobe Alcorn placed fifth along with the Women's Distance Medley Relay team of Madi Hopson, Lana Ballard, Kara Downs and Haeley Pines finishing fifth overall. The men had two scorers in the 400 meter dash with Matthew Cooks finishing 5th and Marlon Durand finishing in 8th. Durand also tallied another 8th place finish in the 200 meter dash. Avery Sterling made it to the final of the 60 meter hurdles and finished 7th overall.
Three Scots placed in the 800 meter run with Matthew Cooks finishing in 5th, Haeley Pines finishing 8th and Madi Hopson breaking the school record while finishing 5th in the conference.
Men's 4x400 meter relay consisting of Durand, Sterling, Alcorn and Cooks finished sixth while the women's 4x400 meter relay team of Ballard, Pines, Hopson and Downs finished eighth.Â
The teams concluded their Indoor season and will start their outdoor season at Hendrix on March 11.
