Lyon College drops 1-0 decision to Fontbonne in men's soccer match

BATESVILLE, Arkansas - The match was a stalemate with both the Fontbonne Griffins and the Lyon College Scots fiercely battling on the football turf field at Lyon College until....

The Scots (5-5-1, 2-1-1) were heading into the final stages of the match when Fontbonne scored at the 78:51 mark of the second half on a ricochet kick off the near goal post and into the back of the net on the other side. The final was 1-0.

Lyon had 12 shots in the game, six of which were on goal and saved all six times. The Griffins had six shots and four on-goals. There were seven yellow cards in the contest. 

Tomas Biasi had a shot for the Scots in the first four minutes of the game that went high over the top of the goal. Fontbonne had two shots where one was saved by Lyon goalie Gabriel Rangel and the Griffins missed another shot right with 11:08 gone in the first half. 

Andrei Galca had a shot that missed left and Martin Esquivel had his on-goal shot saved. Galca came back a few minutes later on a free kick that was saved at the 27:14 mark of the first half. Esquivel had another shot on-goal that was saved at the 32:48 mark and Matheus Nunes had a shot that went wide right. 
Fontbonne had a shot that was saved by Rangel at the 38:03 mark and the rest of the first half was back and forth with neither team getting the advantage. 

Aiden McGeown had a header shot off a corner kick just miss right and another shot from Galca missed over the top of the goal at the 65:11 mark of the second half. Esquivel got a shot that was saved at the 76:02 mark and a shot by the Griffins on a penalty kick was saved by a deflection by Rangel, but 40 seconds later, Fontbonne got its score.

Shots from Esquivel, Daniel Pasztor and Galca were saved or hit the goal post in the final minutes.
