Lyon College men's golf wins USCAA National Championship

STATE COLLEGE, Pennsylvania - The Lyon College men's golf team are USCAA National Champions for 2023 after winning the championship tournament on Tuesday over 18 other participating teams on Penn State's Blue Course in State College, Pennsylvania. 

The Scots shot a two-day total of 597, which was nine shots better than second-place Penn State Hazleton (606). There were 108 golfers playing in the tournament. 

Ryan Kriz led Lyon College with a two-day total of 148 after shooting a 76 in Tuesday's final round. Kriz had birdies on holes five, nine and 15 in the second round and parred nine holes on his way to a third place finish individually. 

Manav Perfecto was second for the Scots with a two-day total of 149. He improved his game by two positions to finish in a tie for fourth place overall. Perfecto had five birdies on the front nine on holes one, four, five, six and nine and added a birdie on 18 to complete his round that also saw him have six pars. Perfecto shot a one-over 73 in Tuesday's final round.

Jackson Baughman had three birdies in his second round play on holes 7, 11 and 12. He he parred 13 holes and finished the front nine 1-under par. For Tuesday, Baughman shot a one-over 73 for a two-day total of 150 for sixth place.

Tyler Doucet finished in a tie for seventh place overall with a two-over 74 on in the final round, which put him at 152 for the tournament. Doucet had birdies on five, seven and 13, while getting pars on 10 other holes. He finished the front nine at 1-under.

Beau Perry was in a five-way tie for ninth place overall after a round of 78 on Day 2. He totaled 154 for the tournament and had three birdies in round two on holes four, five and 15 and parred 10 holes on the day. 

Playing individually, Wes Lange finished in a three-way tie for 47th with an 82 in the second round for a two-day total of 164. Lange had nine pars on the course in the second round. Lange was the fourth place finisher of the individual players.
