BATESVILLE, Ark. - Savanna Lopez scored 21 points and hauled down 11 rebounds coming in off the Lyon College bench to led the Scots to a 77-60 win over the visiting Central Baptist College Mustangs on Thursday night in American Midwest Conference action at Becknell gymnasium.

Along with Lopez, the Scots (5-6, 4-3) got 18 points from Mari-Hanna Newsom and 17 points and 11 assists from Allison Byars in the win. Lyon scored a basket in the paint, had 21 points off of CBC turnovers, seven second chance points and 28 bench points. The score was tied once at 30-30 and Lyon College led by as much as 20 points in the fourth quarter. 

The Scots broke a 30-30 halftime tie by outscoring the Mustangs 29-11 in the third quarter to go up 59-41. 
CBC led 7-0 before Kristen Baham made a three-pointer from the wing. Newsom came back seconds later with a three-pointer and Newsom hit another one to make it 12-9. The Mustangs moved out to a nine point lead and despite three points from Lopez, CBC led 25-16 after the first quarter.

Byars made four free throws and Tate scored in the first three minutes to cut the CBC lead to eight points, 30-22. Natalya Kaza made three free throws in a row, Lopez scored inside, Baham made a three-pointer and Byars tied the game 30-30 with a free throw at the 1:57 mark of the second period.

Newsom gave the Scots the lead in the third quarter with two three-pointers in a row. Byars made a three-pointer and Newsom made another one for a 42-33 Lyon College lead. Newsom hit again before Tate scored. Byars added a jumper, Lopez hit a turn-around in the paint and came back with a layup. Byars connected on a three-pointer and Lopez completed a three-point play to put the Scots up by 18, 59-41.

Tate scored three baskets in a row and Kaza made two free throws. Lopez four straight points, Byars added two free throws, Kaza made two at the line and Lopez finished out the game with four more points.
