BATESVILLE, Ark. - The Lyon College men's and women's basketball teams will hosting the Missouri Baptist University Spartans today at Becknell Gymnasium beginning in a key American Midwest Conference showdown.

Midway through the conference season, the Lyon College women Scots find themselves just two games back of the leaders after wins over Stephens, Central Baptist College, Hannibal-LaGrange and William Woods.  The Scots (7-8, 6-5) hosted Cottey on Thursday night and lost 74-65

The Spartans are (14-3 and 10-1) are leading the conference with their only league loss coming at home against Columbia College on Dec. 17. Since then, MBU has beaten Stephens, UHS&P, Hannibal-LaGrange, Harris-Stowe State, Cottey and William Woods. The Spartans have one win against the Scots in 24 games. The last time the two teams met, the Spartans won 100-55.

The Lyon College men Scots (6-9, 2-6) are coming off a non-conference win against the MUW Owls on Wednesday night 83-79 behind 37 points from Trenton Bell. Missouri Baptist defeated the Scots 88-73 on Nov.19 in the league-opener for Lyon College. 

Currently, the Spartans are (10-10, 6-2) and played William Woods on Thursday night.
