Scots track and field compete at AMC championships


ST. LOUIS, MO. -  The Lyon College Scots men's and women's track and field team competed on Friday at William Woods for field events and moved to Missouri Baptist University for the running and completion of the field events on Saturday at Spartans Field.

Weston Klein was second overall in the javelin throw event with 42.00-meters. In the discus throw event Klein finished 11th with a 29.35 -meter toss and he was 14th in the hammer throw event with a 32.68-meters and he was 12th in the shot put with a shot of 10.77-meters.

Patrick Mitchell was 14th in the shot put event at 9.33 meters.  Mark Brill was 12th in the javelin event with a 29.60-meter throw. 

In the women's 100-meter dash, Chloe Desouza was 13th in a time of 14.01. Mia Winters ran ninth in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 20.84.

Desouza was 10th overall in the 200-meter dash in a time of 28.59. Marlon Durand was 11th overall in the men's 200-meter dash in a time of 23.97. Durand ran seventh overall in the 400-meter dash in a time of 54.92. 

Zachary Smith was ninth in the 400-meters in a time of 55.41 and he ran 14th in the men's 800-meter run in a time of 2:11.33. Michael Starks was 16th in the event with a time of 2:15.543. 

Winters was seventh overall in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:20.10. Winters finished second overall in the 5,000-meter race walk in a time of 37:53.38

Alexis Herman was 11th in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 5:39.44. Herman was also 10th in the women's 5,000-meter run in a time of 22:45.41.

Clare Wilber was 8th in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 21:12.18. Haeley Pines was 14th overall in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:41.12.

Brill ran the 3,000-meter steeplechase and was 8th overall in a time of 12:15.19.

Lyon's 4x100 meter relay team finished fifth overall in a time of 59.28. Winters, Herman, Wilber and Desouza made up the four legs for the Scots in the event.  The team of Wilber, Winters, Pines and Desouza ran the 4x400-meter relay in a time of 4:43.95.

Overall team point totals: Lyon College women 17 points, 8th place. Lyon College men 11 points, 7th place.
