Scots softball split AMC conference double-header with Central Baptist College

BATESVILLE, Ark. - The Lyon College softball team split an American Midwest Conference double-header with the Central Baptist College Mustangs on Tuesday afternoon at Howard and Mary House Field in Batesville.

The Scots won the first game 6-3 and lost the second to the Mustangs 10-1. Lyon College improves to 5-17 overall and are 5-5 in conference action. 

In the first game, CBC took a 1-0 lead in teh top of the first inning, but Lyon College tied the game in the bottom of the first inning when Mary Duffield reached first on a fielder's choice sacrifice ground out that scored Georgia Holzer from third base.

Later in the bottom of the second, Celsey Wood doubled to left field to bring in Addison Harmon, Megan Englehardt and Duffield. Holzer doubled to left field to bring in Wood for a 6-1 lead.

CBC added a run each in the fourth and fifth, but couldn't overcome the deficit. McKenzie Campbell was the winning pitcher going seven full innings and gave up three earned runs. 

In the second game, Jasmine Carlos singled to right field to score Addison Harmon in the bottom of the first inning for a 1-0 lead. That held until the fifth inning when CBC scored three runs. The Mustangs scored seven times in the top of the sixth inning. 

Carlos got two hits in the game and had the only run batted in. Harmon, Wood, Trinity Arrambide and Emily Martinez each had hits in the second game.

The Scots will be in action at House Field on Friday afternoon with a double-header against Freed-Hardeman beginning at 2 p.m.
