BATESVILLE, Ark. – Lyon College Athletics Director Kevin Jenkins announced on Thursday the hiring of Kortney Cunningham of Alva, Oklahoma to be the Scots volleyball head coach for next season.
 
Cunningham has a Masters of Adult Education in Management and Administration from Northwestern Oklahoma State University and she has a Bachelor of Arts in Exercise Science from Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kansas.
 
Cunningham is a certified personal trainer and is advanced in first aid, CPR and AEDs. She has been the assistant volleyball coach at Northwestern Oklahoma State University since June of 2019.
 
Her duties have included recruiting coordinator, administrator of NCAA countable athletic related activities, strength and conditioning coach, player development, scouting opponents and implementing game plans.
 
Cunningham did her internship as an assistant volleyball coach at Kansas Wesleyan University from January 2019 to May 2019 where she was the private skills volleyball coach, monitored weight room and was the assistant director for club volleyball tournaments.
 
She has been a part-time teacher for Alva, Oklahoma Public Schools and an advanced volleyball performance assistant director that specializes on personalized satellite camps for high school and junior high volleyball programs.
 
Cunningham has interned as a sports information director at Northwestern Oklahoma State, is an AmeriCorps member, and was a customer service representative for Almena Sate Bank in Norton, Kansas.
 
Her collegiate playing experience includes a four-year scholarship for volleyball at Hesston College and Kansas Wesleyan University. In 2018, she was AVCA All-region at Kansas Wesleyan, was 2018 KCAC All-Conference at Kansas Wesleyan, was on the 2017 KCAC Co-Conference championship team at Kansas Wesleyan and in 2015 was NJCAA Second Team All-Region while at Hesston College.
