ST. LOUIS, Missouri - The Lyon College Scots softball team picked up two important American Midwest Conference wins in St. Louis, Missouri on Friday afternoon against the Harris-Stowe State University Hornets.
The Scots scored a season-high 22 runs in the first game, with a season-high 15 runs in the first inning, and won 22-1. Then they broke that record in the second game with 25 runs in a 25-1 victory. Â
The 15-run first inning started when
Julia Goodwin singled in
Madison Burrell for a 1-0 lead.
Alyssa Buentello advanced to third on a wild pitch and Goodwin scored on the wild pitch for a 2-0 advantage.
Trinity Arrambide reached on an error and Buentello scored,
Kassidy Robinson singled in
Emily Martinez,
Addison Harmon reached first on an error and Arrambide scored. Burrell singled in
Georgia Holzer. Goodwin singled in Robinson, Buentello singled in Harmon, Martinez walked with the bases loaded to bring in Burrell, Arrambide was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Goodwin scored, Holzer walked with the bases loaded to bring in Buentello and Robinson walked to bring in Martinez. for make it 12-0. Sara Jo Guerror hit a sacrifice fly to right field that scored Arrambide. Harmon singled in Holzer and Goodwin walked to bring in Robinson for a 15-0 Scots lead.
Harris-Stowe scored in the third inning, but Lyon College added more runs in the fourth inning. Burrell walked in MK Duffield, Goodwin singled in
Celsey Wood. Melonie Mooney walked to bring in Harmon and Arrambide reached first on an error and Burrell scored for a 19-1 lead.
In the fifth inning, Mooney singled in Harmon and Arrambide walked again to bring in Burrell.Â
The Scots scored seven runs in the second and 10 runs in the fourth inning in the second game.
In the first inning, Lyon College got a single from Harmon to bring in Burrell for a 1-0 lead. Â
In the second inning, Burrell singled in Megan Englehardt, Goodwin reached on a fielder's choice to bring in Mooney, Harmon reached on an error to bring in Burrell, Holzer was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring in Goodwin. Arrambide was hit by a pitch and Harmon scored and
Jasmine Carlos came in on a passed ball. Englehardt grounded out to first base to bring in Holzer for an 8-0 lead..
In the third inning, Buentello singled in Burrell, Harmon singled in Goodwin and Holzer hit a sacrifice fly to bring in Buentello for an 11-0 lead.
In the fourth inning, Mooney singled in Englehardt, Buentello hit a sacrifice to score Mooney, Carlos doubled in Burrell, Arambide was hit by a pitch and Carlos scored. Duffield singled in Arrambide and Holzer, Wood singled in Martinez and Duffield. Buentello doubled in Burrell, Duffield doubled in Holzer, Wood walked and Duffield scored on a wild pitch. Buentello doubled in Wood and Burrell to make it 25-0.Â
