ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Lyon College Scots baseball team stepped away from the American Midwest Conference to take on the Henderson State Reddies at Clyde Berry Field in Arkadelphia and dropped a 12-1 decision in seven innings.
The Scots (18-14) had three hits in the game and made four errors.
Henderson State (21-8) and ranked 16
th in the national Division II baseball poll, scored three runs in the first two innings.
The Reddies added two more runs in the third and three in the fourth inning.
Lyon scored its only run in the top of the fifth inning when
Joe Weatherford doubled down the left-field line to score
Chris Lara and moved
Evan Hylek to third base.
Weatherford had two of the three hits, with Hylek coming up with the other one. The Scots left five runners on base in the game.
Lyon College pitched
Aiden Pantoya,
Cameron Gordon,
Dylan Baskin and
Haydn Finley.
The Scots will be back in the American Midwest Conference action by hosting Central Baptist College in a 5 p.m. single, 9-inning game at Fred Wann Field.
Lyon College will take on CBC on Saturday in a double-header starting at noon.
