Scots sweep double header from Fisher College

BATESVILLE, Ark. -  The Lyon College Scots baseball team swept a double-header on a cold Friday morning and early afternoon over visiting Fisher College at Fred Wann Field 13-1 and 11-1.
 
Lyon College improves to 15-9 overall with the four-game sweep of the Falcons in the last two days.
 
In the first game on Friday, the Falcons jumped out to a 1-0 lead, but in the bottom of the first, Joe Weatherford belted a 2-run homer to right field that also scored Troy Strack.
Weatherford added another RBI to his credit by knocking in Zach Ellis with a single to give the Scots a 3-1 lead.
 
Tristan Buschow reached on an error in the bottom of the third inning that brought in Alec White. Evan Hylek singled in Buschow and Hakeem Yatim for a 6-1 lead.
 
Jesse McGonigal singled in White in the bottom of the fourth to put Lyon College ahead 7-1.
 
In the fifth, Strack scored on a Weatherford single and Alan West singled in Weatherford.
 
In the sixth inning, leading 9-1, CC Burrup singled in Austin Shipman. Logan Lighner singled in Burrup and Clayton Alyea and Kaden Doan scored on a Jordan Olivera single in the sixth to make it 13-1 Scots.
 
Lyon won the second game 11-1 in a game that was called in the sixth inning due to snow.
 
West doubled in Strack to start the scoring in Game 2. Weatherford scored on a wild pitch, Haydn Finley singled in West and Logan Doody walked with the bases loaded to bring in Finley for a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning for Lyon.
 
Chris Lara singled in White and Aaron Hurd in the bottom of the second inning to make it a 6-1 lead.
 
In the fifth, Strack and Weatherford scored on wild pitches, then Strack doubled in the sixth to bring in Lara and Weatherford ended the game with a two-run double.
