BATESVILLE, Ark. - The Freed-Hardeman Lions scored six runs in the top of the seventh inning on Tuesday afternoon at Fred Wann Field and came from behind to beat the Lyon College Scots 10-5 in baseball action in Batesville.
The Scots (10-6) were led by
Troy Strack and
Alan West who were both 2-for-5 at the plate with one run scored each and Strack added a run batted in.
Joe Weatherford was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and
Zane Wallace was 2-for-2. Lyon College had five runs on 10 hits and committed one error.Â
Freed-Hardeman (12-4) had 10 runs on 12 hits.
Strack scored on a balk by the Lions pitcher, then
Alec White hit a sacrifice grounder to score West and Weatherford scored on a wild pitch for a 3-0 Scots lead. White singled in the third inning to score Weatherford to make it 4-0.Â
After Freed-Hardeman scored a run in the top of the sixth, Strack singled in pinch-runner Kaden Doan for a 5-1 Lyon College lead, but the Lions scored six run six runs on four hits to take a 7-5 advantage. Freed-Hardeman added three more runs in the top of the ninth inning.
The Scots will be on the road to Park City, Kansas to take on the Park Pirates in a Thursday double-header starting at 12 p.m. (noon) and a double-header on Friday starting at 10 a.m.
