ATHERTON, CA - Lyon's Kasisdy Ramirez narrowly lost to Angela Cervantes of Life Pacific University 16-12 in the opening round of the 101-weight class at the Menlo Women's Open on Saturday. Ramirez went on to win third place in the weight class by defeating Kaili Oshiro by technical fall 10-0.
Laura Lincoln battled in the 109-pound class. She lost to Barbara Greenberg of Menlo College 10-2. Later Lincoln lost to Melanie Salazar of Simpson 6-2.
Jessienna Erice and
Emma De Brum met each other for third place in the 116-pound classification. The two Scots fought hard for third place with De Brum coming out on top 8-4.
Ashley Whetzal made it to the semifinals in the 123-pound class.
Rebekah Garcia went to the quarterfinals before being put in the consolation bracket where she went to the third and fourth place match. Mikayla Wallace represented Lyon College in the 136-class.
Alex Banag won third place in the 143-classification in a fall over Daneille Rond. Priscilla Luevano won her first match in the 155 class and made it to the semifinals of the consolation bracket.
Kelani Corbett won second place in the 191 class.
