Spartans too much for Scots

The Lyon College Scots fell 91-72 to the American Midwest Conference leaders, the Missouri Baptist University Spartans on Friday afternoon in St. Louis, MO.
John Paul Morgan led Lyon College with 26 points and seven rebounds. Grant Patterson scored 20 points and had six rebounds and Eric Koludrovic scored nine points and had seven rebounds. Trenton Bell had six points and Ben Keton finished with four points.
The Scots shot 42.9 percent from the field and was 34.8 percent on three-pointers. Missouri Baptist shot 53.8 percent from the field, hit 45.5 perent of its free throws and made 11-of-15 free throws. The Spartans remained in first place at 19-4 and 11-0 in the AMC, while the Scots fall to 3-8 in the conference and 8-15 overall.
Missouri Baptist led 6-0 when Patterson and Morgan scored baskets for Lyon. The Scots trailed 16-6 when former Bryant Hornet Gavin Brunson hit a three-pointer at the 14:51 mark. Koludrovic made a three-pointer to make it 23-14 with 12:07 to go in the first half. Patterson scored and Morgan completed a three-point play.
Missouri Baptist ran out to a 19-point lead 45-26 before Patterson made a three-pointer with 2:07 left in the first half. Patterson made another three-pointer with 29 seconds to go, but the Spartans made a three-pointer at the buzzer to lead 52-34 at halftime.
MBU moved out to a 25-point lead early in the second half, 61-36 at the 17:15 mark. Keton and Bell both made jump shots, Koludrovic made a field goal and a three-pointer for Lyon to make it a 66-48 game with 12:56 to go.  Morgan hit a field goal and made a three-pointer, but the Spartans led by as much as 26 points, 91-65 with 2:55 left in the game.
Next up for Lyon College will be at Hannibal-LaGrange on Saturday at 3 p.m.
