LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Arkansas Baptist Buffaloes hit two free throws in 14 seconds left to go up by three points and Lyon College missed a three-point shot that would have tied the game in a 79-76 loss on Tuesday night at West Central Community Center in Little Rock.
The Scots (0-1) had come back to get within one point 77-76 in regulation, but as the clock was winding down, the Buffaloes made two free throws to go up by three points.Trenton Bell led Lyon College with 24 points, while John Paul Morgan secured a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Nikola SaSaroga had 15 points on the night and Sando Hill kicked in 11 points for the Scots. Other scorers included Israel Palmer with six points and Delvonte McCloud with four.
The Scots had 36 rebounds to the 28 for Arkansas Baptist, but suffered 23 turnovers to 14 for the Buffaloes. The largest lead for the Scots was four points with 2:03 to go in the first quarter and they had a six-point run at the 5:14 mark. There were 13 lead changes and 10 ties in the game. Lyon College led for 7:47 in the game, while Arkansas Baptist led for 28:58.Â
The Scots scored 21 points off of turnovers, had 42 points in the paint, 14 second change points, scored nine points off of fast breaks and got six points from the bench. Lyon College trailed 41-36 at halftime.Â
The Buffaloes scored 30 points off of turnovers, had 32 points in the paint, 12 second change points, scored eight points off of fast breaks and had 45 points from their bench.
For the game, the Scots were 29-of-57 from the field for 50.9 percent, they made 3-of-15 three-pointers for 20 percent and hit 15-of-24 free throws for 62.5 percent.
