COLUMBIA, Mo - The Lyon College volleyball Scots had their season come to an end on Tuesday night with a 3-0 loss to the Columbia Cougars in the American Midwest Conference tournament.

The Scots (10-16) was ahead for most of the first set, but fell to the Cougars 25-21. The second and third sets went to Columbia College 25-16 adn 25-12.

Kylee Sabella led the Scots with eight kills, Isabella Beasley had six kills and Paeton Tucker finished with five kills. Layla Wilson had three ace serves, Tucker had two and Natalia Szymanska had one ace. Beasley had one block for a point, while Wilson had 20 assists and Cassidy Garrett had one. Erin Haigwood had 12 digs, Sabella had 10 and Tucker had seven.

Wilson had a kill to put Lyon College in the first set. Beasley added a kill and Sabella had a kill to make it 8-5. Tucker's kill made it an 11-7 Columbia lead. Three straight kills from Sabella tied the set at 14-14 and put the Scots up by one point 15-14. Two attack errors by the Cougars made it a 17-14 lead and another kill from Sabella put the Scots up by four points. Columbia College scored the next seven points to take a 21-18 advantage and went on to win despite two kills from Tucker.

In the second set, Beasley got a kill and her second kill tied the set at 6-6. Columbia scored five straight points, before Tucker got a kill and later Sabella got a kill to make it a 19-9 contest. Sabella got another kill to make it 20-14 and added a second one to cut the lead to 23-15, but the Cougars went on to win.

Sabella and Beasley got kills early in the third set. Beasley's second kill cut the Columbia lead to 7-4. Jayden Hughes got a kill to make it 10-5. Samantha Ferguson's kill made it 14-6 and Beasley got a kill to make it 19-9. Ferguson and Tucker both got kills, but the Cougars went on to win by 13.
