Lyon College football travels to Louisiana Christian University in Sooner Athletic Conference action

PINEVILLE, LA. - The Lyon College Scots football team will continue Sooner Athletic Conference play after a bye week this Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. against the Louisiana Christian University Wildcats.

The Scots (1-7, 0-7) are coming off their last game with a 31-6 home loss to Southwestern Assemblies of Gold University. The only score in the game for Lyon College came on a Chris Bronson 80-yard interception return for a touchdown early in the third quarter. 

Louisiana Christian (5-4, 4-3) is coming off a 39-14 win at Langston University last week. The Wildcats led Langston 5-0 in the first quarter on a 42-yard field goal and a defensive safety. LCU added a 39-yard field goal and scored two touchdowns, on a 41-yard run and a 1-yard run, in the second quarter to take a 21-0 halftime lead. The Wildcats had another safety in the third quarter, then scored on runs of 21 yards and three yards, then booted a 31-yard field goal to lead 39-0.

Individually, LCU quarterback Sal Palermo was 5-of 16 for 140 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He rushed 20 times fo 126 yards and scored a touchdown, while running backs Canaan Leon had four rushes for 59 yards and Devin Briscoe had seven rushes for 37 yards a touchdown. Jacob Ganote scored the third rushing touchdown in the game for the Wildcats. Receiving, Micah Dunn caught three passes for 107 yards and a touchdown to lead LCU.

The Wildcats amassed 311 total yards rushing and defensively, held Langston to a minus-22 yards. LCU had 451 yards of total offense in the victory.
