Scots men's basketball plays exhibition game against Southeast Missouri State

Box Score CAPE GIRARDEAU, Missouri - The Lyon College Scots men's basketball team were the season home-opener opponent for the Division I Southeast Missouri State University Redhawks on Saturday afternoon at the Show Me Center.

Although the contest was considered an exhibition for the Scots, no one scored in double-figures in an 83-46 loss against SEMO. Nikola SaSaroga led Lyon College with nine points, Trent Bell, Israel Palmer and Juwaun Clifton each had eight points. Donovynn Lewis scored six points, while JP Morgan had three, Delvonte McCloud had two and Luke Bridges had two points.

Lyon College shot 29.2 percent from the field and made 6-of-22 three-pointers, but made 80 percent of its free throws 12-of-15. The Scots got 14 points in the paint, 16 points off of turnovers, had six second change points, eight fast break points and 24 points came from the bench.

Phillip Russell led the Redhawks with 23 points, while Josh Earley had 11. SEMO led 34-13 at halftime.

The Scots had 25 turnovers in the game. 

Lyon College trailed 8-0 before McCloud scored. Palmer made two free throws, but the Scots didn't score again until Bridge hit a layup in the paint to cut the Redhawks lead down to nine points, 15-6. SaSaroga scored off the glass, but SEMO ran off to a 32-8 advantage before SaSaroga made two straight baskets. Morgan added a free throw to make it 34-13 at the break.

Bell knocked down two three-pointers to start the third quarter and get the SEMO lead under 20, but the Redhawks scored the next five points. SaSaroga stepped out side to sink a three-pointer.
SEMO led by as much as 38 points, 64-26 with 10:40 to go in the second half. The Redhawks went up by 41 points two minutes later, 73-32 and stretch it to a 45-point cushion at the 6:04 mark.
