FORT WORTH, Texas - They Lyon College Scots football team lost the final game they will ever play in the Sooner Athletic Conference on Saturday afternoon 64-21 at Farrington Field against the Texas Wesleyan Rams.
Lyon College (1-9, 0-9) trailed 8-7 after the first quarter and stayed close 21-15 behind the Rams at halftime. Texas Wesley (9-2, 7-2) outscored the Scots 23-6 in the third quarter and blanked them 20-0 in the fourth quarter to gain the victory.
The Rams score first on a 67-yard run with 14:39 to go in the first quarter. Lyon College came back and used 12 plays on a 57 yard drive that culminated with a 7-yard touchdown reception for Reginald Brown of a Isiah Bradford pass. with 9:46 to go.Â
The Scots took the lead at the 10:17 mark of the second quarter when Bradford passed for an 11-yard touchdown to Brown, then Bradford tossed a 2-point conversion to Derik Jackson. Lyon College led 15-8.
The Rams quickly came back to get a touchdown with 2:38 seconds to go in the first half to tie the game at 15-15 and had a 1-yard touchdown run to make it 21-15 at the break.
Lyon College tied the game in the third quarter when
Aedan Huntsman caught a 9-yard pass from Bradford. The try for two failed, leaving the score 21-21 with 11:53 to go in the third period.
Texas Wesleyan returned the ensuing kickoff 83-yards to paydirt and led 29-21. And after getting the ball back scored in one play on a 49-yard pass.Â
The Rams added two more touchdowns, one on a 10-yard run and the other on a 35-yard pass to lead 50-21.Â
Texas Wesleyan had a 40-yard interception return and a 4-yard touchdown run to complete all the scoring in the game.
Lyon had three turnovers in the game, one fumble and two interceptions, while the Rams suffered fumble and an interception.
