Scots host Missouri Baptist

WOMEN
Lyon College is playing an American Midwest Confernce game against the Missouri Baptist Soartans for the 22nd time. The Scots are 21-0 vs the Spartans and won the last match up on Feb. 26, 2021 66-59 at Becknell Gymnasium. 
This year, Lyon enters the game 9-4 and on a four-game winning streak beating Williams Baptist, Philander Smith, LSU-Alexandria and Champion Christian College. In the Scots most recent win, Marleight Dodson led Lyon with 16 points and Paige Kelley had 14. 
Missouri Baptist University comes into the game with a 5-7 overall record and are 2-0 and tied atop the AMC standings currently with Stephens and Columbia College.
 Lyon is tied with Central Baptist College and HS&P at 1-1 in the league.

Scouting the Scots
The Scots are riding a four-game winning streak and beat Champion Christian without leading scorer Jade Giron on Dec. 31. Marleigh Dodson, Paige Kelley, Kristen Baham and Katie Turner led Lyon in a 25-point home win. 
Giron leads the Scots witth a 13.2 points per game average, Kelley has an 11.3 points average and Mari-Hanna Newsom scored 9.6 points per game. 
Kelley has a team high 22 points that came against John Brown on Nov. 23. Kelley also had a game-high 10 field goals made and led with 13 rebounds.

Scouting the Spartans
The Spartans lost to Blue Mountain 76-60 in their most recent game. Tionne Taylor had 24 points, Rose Wassef added 10 points and Kayleigh Winch had nine points. Boston Talley had six rebounds to lead Missouri Baptist and added six points. 
The Spartans were 6-of-25 on three-pointers in the game. Currently, Missouri Baptist averages 69.5 points per game, while giving up 71.3 points per game. 
Taylor leads Missouri Baptist with a 19.0 points per game average. She also averages 3.3 rebounds and has 24 steals on the year. 
Alexis Allstun averages 11.8 points per game, 5.2 rebounds and has eight blocked shots. Lauren Ebert averages 10.6 points per game, 4.6 rebounds and has nine blocks to go with 26 steals.
The most points in a game for Missouri Taylor had season high of 33 points vs. Grand View on Nov. 5 Allstun made 14 field goals against Bethel, as well.

MEN
Missouri Baptist University comes into tonight's contest with a 10-4 record atop the American Midwest Conference standings with a 2-0 record. The Spartans are coming off a 92-85 victory at Warner College on Dec. 17. RJ Pair led Missouri Baptist with 25 points. John Yaeger had 19 points and 11 rebounds, Brandon Hardy had 18 points and River Reed put in 12 points. 
The Scots are coming off win over Crowley's Ridge 73-70 on Dec. 20. Grant Patterson led Lyon with 19 points, while Ben Keton and Trenton Bell each scored 15 points and JP Morgan scored 14 points and hauled in 10 rebounds.

Scouting the Scots
The Scots are averaging 72.4 points per game and have the second leading scorer in the AMC in Ben Keton with a 21.0 points per game average. Grant Patterson is 10th on that list with a 13.9 points per game average and Morgan is 11th with a 12.8 average. 
Morgan is the leading rebounder in the conference with an average of 9.6 a game and has a total of 125 in 13 games. Keton is also sixth on the field goal percentage list with 47.8 hitting 99 of 207 shots. Morgan is seventh in the conference with 47.4 percent, hitting 65 of 137 field goals. 
Keton is second in the AMC in three-point shooting percentage with 46.1, which is 35 of 76. Patterson is sixth currently in assists with 41 for a 3.2 per game average.

Scouting the Spartans
The Spartans average 75.3 points per game and scored a season high 92 points against Warner on Dec. 17. Missouri Baptist features Brandon Hardy, who is the eighth leading scorer in the American Midwest Conference with a 14.2 points per game average. 
RJ Pair is 16th on the list of conference scorers with an 11.9 points per game average. John Yaeger leads Missouri Baptist in rebounding and averages 6.7 per game with a total of 94, which is eighth overall in the conference.
Hardy is fourth in field goal percentage with 49.6 percent on 70 of 141 shots. He is first in three-point shot percentage in the AMC, hitting 50.7 percent of his shots, which is 37 of 73 currently. Jadis White is second in the conference in assists with 68, which is an average of 4.9 a game. 
Missouri Baptist is on a current two-game winning streak and most recently lost to Fontbonne University on Dec. 11, 94-80.
Missouri Baptist's three other losses were to Talladega on Oct. 29, 87-54, to Huntington University on Nov. 6, 87-56 and to Peru State 68-62 on Nov. 20.
