The Lyon College women's wrestling team placed second in the York Duals in York, Nebraska on Friday afternoon.
The Scots defeated host York 43-5 in the second round after getting a bye through the first round. Lyon faced Menlo College in a 43-4 defeat for first place.
Against York, Lyon's Kassidy Ramirez won over Kyle Marlin of York College in a technical fall 10-0 in the 101-weight classification. Jessienna Burkett-Erice of Lyon defeated Clair Payne of York College with a fall in 34 seconds in the 109-pound class. Lyon's Ashley Whetzal won over Kami Fiordalis of York College with a fall in 1:01 in the 130 class and Rebekah Garcia won over York College's Sydney Boyle in a 12-0 technical fall.
Lyon College won six forfeits. Scot winners included Emma De Brum at the 116-weight class; Hailey Holland at the 123-weight class; Alexandrea Banag at the 143-weight class, Priscilla Lueyano at the 155-weight class, Charity Goldsmith-Ding in the 170-weight class and Kelani Corbett in the 191-weight class.
