BATESVILLE, Ark. - The Lyon College women's soccer team returned home to J Marshall Huser Field on Wednesday night, falling short against Hendrix College in a 4-0 non-conference encounter.
Â
A slow start from the Scots saw them concede two goals in the first half. The pick of the goals coming from Hendrix forward Caitlyn Gilkey, who found space in between the two Lyon center backs, beating them both in the air to head home a deep cross in the box. The first half closed at 2-0 Hendrix. Lyon had three shots compared to Hendrix's nine.
Â
Unfortunately, the second half saw more of the same. Despite some openings, Lyon couldn't find enough passes to generate a real opportunity to score in the game. If not for some brilliance between the sticks from freshman keeper
Rhyan Hioki, the score line could have been a lot worse. Another two goals in the 46th and 80th minutes of the game from the Warriors of Hendrix College, meant that the final score ended up Lyon 0 and Hendrix 4.
Â
Hioki led the game for the Scots recording a total of 10 saves.
Â
The Scots now fall to 2-5 for the season while Hendrix College moves on to 4-2-1 overall.
Â
Next up for the Scots is a return to American Midwest Conference play as they travel to St. Louis, Missouri on Saturday, Oct. 2
nd, where they will play Harris-Stowe State University at 1:00 p.m.
