SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – The Lyon College volleyball team dropped a non-conference road match at John Brown in three sets on Tuesday night. With the loss, the Scots fell to 9-6 on the season, while JBU improved to 9-9.
The Golden Eagles commanded the first two sets as they won both games by a score of 25-14. The Scots showed fight in the third set, however, and built a 14-8 lead after a kill by Paeton Tucker. The Scots continued to hold a lead for much of the set until JBU overtook the lead at 23-22 on an attack error by Lyon. Maria Eleni Bampiri knotted the score at 23-23 with a kill, but a service error by the Scots and a kill by Joanna Hayes for JBU gave the Golden Eagles a 25-23 victory in the third set.
Isabella Beasley led the Scots offensively with six kills while Adia Sherbeyn once again led Lyon on the defensive side of the net with a team-high 16 digs. Laney Blankenship dished out a team-high 14 assists on the night.
The Scots have a quick turnaround as they travel to Philander Smith College tomorrow night at 7 p.m.
