MUSKOGEE, Okla. – The Lyon College women's soccer team used a balanced attack on Saturday as six Scots scored one goal each in a 6-0 non-conference win at Bacone College.
With the win, the Scots improved to 2-3 overall, while Bacone College fell to 0-8.
The Scots wasted very little time before they found the back of the net as Kate Whitenton gave Lyon a 1-0 lead just under three minutes into the contest. Kimberly Fretwell added the second goal of the game for the Scots just under two minutes later before Taylor Hammons gave Lyon a 3-0 lead before the half with a goal in the 27th minute.
Abby Ponder, Emma Brandes and Hailey Williams all scored a goal in the second half to add to the Scots' lead.
Whitenton was credited with two assists in the win, while Hailey Gonzales and Williams recorded one assist each.
Rhyan Hioki earned her second consecutive shutout in goal as she made five saves to keep the clean sheet.
The Scots will begin American Midwest Conference play next Saturday as they travel to St. Louis, Mo., to take on Missouri Baptist on Sept. 25 at 1 p.m.
