COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Lyon College softball team fell to the five-seeded William Woods University Owls, 7-2, on Friday.
Lyon concludes the season at 16-27 overall, while William Woods moves to 22-22.

Each side scored a pair of runs in the first inning. William Woods scored on a Lyon error and an RBI single by Alexis Hassler. The Scots used a 2-RBI double by
Kortanie Ruhland to knot the game at two.
The score remained 2-2 until the top of the fourth inning. Devyn Burton delivered an RBI single to left field, giving WWU a 3-2 lead. Mia Santos, then, hit a 2-RBI single to center field, extending William Woods University's lead to three.
The Owls would scratch a run across in the top of the fifth inning on an RBI single by Ally Mahoney, giving WWU a 6-2 lead.
WWU would tack on one more run in the top of the seventh inning as Alexis Hassler hit an RBI double, extending WWU's advantage to five.
The Scots got one hit in the bottom of the seventh, but were unable to string together a rally and fell to William Woods University by a score of 7-2.
Kortanie Ruhland paced Lyon offensively as she went 1-for-3 in the contest with a double and two RBI's, while
Katelyn Platt went the distance in the circle for the Scots as she struck out five over seven innings of work.
