ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Spartans outlasted the Scots in a dramatic penalty-kick shootout to clinch a spot in the AMC Finals.

Lyon concludes the season at 7-5-1 overall, 5-2 in the AMC, while Missouri Baptist University improves to 11-4 overall, 6-2 in the AMC. 
 
GAME FLOW 
Both sides generated chances, but neither side was able to break through as the score remained 0-0 as the halftime whistle sounded. Both teams took two shots in the first half.

The second half saw more shots as each team pressed forward trying to take the lead in the match. Neither side could put the ball in the back of the net and after 90 minutes of action, the match remained scoreless. Lyon outshot MBU, 9-6, in regulation.

In the first overtime, Lyon had three shots, but none were on goal and the score remained 0-0 heading into the second overtime.

In the second overtime, Lyon outshot Missouri Baptist University, 4-1, but neither side could score the golden goal and the match headed into penalty kicks.

The Scots got down 3-1 in the penalty shootout after the first three attempts by each side. Lyon, however, knotted the match at three after five attempts. Each side exchanged successful attempts until the score was knotted at six. MBU, though, would convert on their ninth attempt, while Lyon was unable to, giving MBU the win via penalty-kick shootout.

KEY STATISTICS
- Matias Lopez had two of the three shots on goal for the Scots.
- Dan Huff recorded three saves on the day.
- Lyon outshot Missouri Baptist University, 16-7, in the contest.
